Overview of licences
Licences determine which users can access subscribed tools in SHIP-HATS. They are provisioned through the Console by a Subscription Admin (SA) or Technical Admin (TA). Provisioning grants tool access only — it does not grant access to projects, spaces, applications, or repositories within the tool.
Tools that require licences
The following tools use per-user licensing:
- Atlassian (Jira & Confluence)
- GitLab
- Jira Service Management
- Sonatype (Nexus IQ and Nexus Repository)
When licences are provisioned
Licences can be assigned after the subscription is approved and units are provisioned. SAs or TAs then provision licences to users, who can access the tool subject to project or space permissions.
Licences across subscriptions
A user can hold only one licence per tool across all SHIP-HATS subscriptions. If a duplicate exists, the Console blocks provisioning and admins can grant access directly within the tool.
