Decision Limits & Constraints
This page documents the system limits and constraints for decisions in OPUS. Understanding these limits helps you design decisions that operate within platform boundaries.
Summary
| Constraint | Limit | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Nested Depth | 5 levels | Maximum nesting depth when using Decision nodes |
| Function Timeout | 5 seconds | Maximum execution time for Function nodes |
Nested Decisions
Maximum Nesting Depth
Decisions can be nested up to 5 levels deep.
Depth increases by 1 for each nested decision call. Exceeding this limit will reject execution.
Example of nesting depth:
Parent Decision (depth 1)
└── Child Decision A (depth 2)
└── Child Decision B (depth 3)
└── Child Decision C (depth 4)
└── Child Decision D (depth 5) ✓
└── Child Decision E (depth 6) ✗ RejectedFunction Node
Execution Timeout
Each Function node has a maximum execution time of 5 seconds (5000ms).
If your function exceeds this limit, the execution will be terminated. For complex operations, consider:
- Optimising your code logic
- Breaking the operation into multiple Function nodes
