Project Management

Projects in OPUS serve as containers for organising your workflows and decisions. Each project can contain multiple workflows, decisions, and user assignments. As an administrator, you can create, update, and delete projects to organise your automation work.

The following actions can only be performed by Administrators

Creating a New Project

Follow these steps to create a new project:

  1. Navigate to the Projects page
  2. Click Create Project
  3. Enter a Project Name
  4. Click Create

Your new project will be created and appear in the projects list. You can now start building workflows and decisions within this project.

Note: Project names should be descriptive and help identify the purpose or team associated with the project.

Managing Projects

Updating Project Name

To update an existing project’s name:

  1. Navigate to the Projects page
  2. Locate the project you want to update
  3. Click on the project settings or options menu
  4. Select Edit or Update Project
  5. Enter the new Project Name
  6. Click Save or Update

The project name will be updated immediately across the system.

Deleting a Project

To delete a project:

  1. Navigate to the Projects page
  2. Locate the project you want to delete
  3. Click on the project settings or options menu
  4. Select Delete Project
  5. A confirmation prompt will appear - confirm the deletion

Warning: Deleting a project will permanently remove all workflows, decisions, and configurations associated with it. This action cannot be undone. Ensure you have backups or exports of any important work before deleting a project.

Best Practices

  • Use Descriptive Names: Choose project names that clearly indicate the purpose or team
  • Organise by Team or Function: Create separate projects for different teams or functional areas
  • Regular Cleanup: Remove unused or obsolete projects to keep your workspace organised
  • Access Control: Use the User Management features to control who can access each project
  • Backup Important Work: Before deleting a project, ensure all important workflows and decisions are backed up or exported

Next Steps

After creating a project:

Manage Users - Assign users and set permissions for the project to control who can access and modify workflows and decisions.

Then start building:

Build Workflows - Create automated processes with drag-and-drop workflow editor.

Build Decisions - Define business rules and logic using decision tables and more.

For API integration:

Manage Access Tokens - Set up API authentication tokens for staging and production environments.
