Switch between AI coding tools
Only one AI coding assistant should be active in an IDE at a time. Running multiple assistants simultaneously can cause conflicts and reduce performance.
If you want to try a different AI coding assistant for a project or task, disable the current assistant in your IDE and enable the one you want to use.
VS Code
Use the Extensions panel to disable the current coding assistant and enable another one.
JetBrains IDEs
Use the Plugins settings to disable the current coding assistant and enable another one.
If you use different assistants in different IDEs (for example, GitHub Copilot in VS Code and Cursor in another workspace), configure them separately in each IDE.
