Authenticate external tools
To publish or retrieve artefacts from Nexus Repository Pro, authenticate your external tools using a User Token.
Use User Tokens when working with build tools and package managers on your local machine.
Things to note
- User Tokens are intended for local development and manual usage.
- User Tokens are required when accessing private hosted repositories.
- Do not use User Tokens in CI/CD pipelines. Use a CI Token instead.
Prerequisites
Ensure the following:
- You can log in to Nexus Repository Pro.
- You have access to the repository you want to use.
- Your external tool is installed and configured locally.
Steps
Log in to Nexus Repository Pro.
In the upper-right corner, click your user icon.
Select User Token.
Click Generate user token.
The system generates:
- Name code
- Pass code
Use the generated credentials in your tool configuration.
Example (Maven):
<server>
<id>your-repository-id</id>
<username>your-name-code</username>
<password>your-pass-code</password>
</server>If you are unable to see the User Token for your account, raise a support request.
