Atlassian Dedicated Site access requirements
An Atlassian Dedicated Site provides an isolated environment for your agency.
It does not grant user access by itself. Access to tools within the site is determined by tool licences and permissions.
Access model
To access resources within a dedicated site, users require:
Tool licence – Allows use of specific tools:
- Atlassian (Jira & Confluence) licence – for Jira and Confluence.
- Jira Service Management (JSM) agent licence – for managing service requests.
Product-level permissions – Allows access to specific projects, spaces, or service portals.
Access scenarios
| Tool licence | Resource access | Result |
|---|---|---|
| ❌ | ❌ | No access to any tool |
| ✅ | ❌ | Can access the tool but not any resource |
| ❌ | ✅ | No access (licence required) |
| ✅ | ✅ | Full access to assigned resources |
All required licences and permissions must be assigned for full access.
Tool-specific access requirements
Each Atlassian tool has its own access model:
- Confluence access requirements
- Jira access requirements
- Jira Service Management (JSM) access requirements
Important notes
- Assigning permissions does not provision licences.
- Provisioning licences does not grant access to projects or spaces.
- Removing a licence revokes access to the associated tool.
- Removing permissions revokes access only to that specific resource.
