Invite users to GitLab groups or projects
Project Admins (PAs) can invite users to their GitLab groups or projects after the users have been provisioned with a GitLab licence. Before inviting a user, check whether they are already a member of the required GitLab group or project. Invited users must accept the invitation within 7 days.
Step 1: Check existing members
Before inviting a user, verify whether they are already a member of the required GitLab group or project.
- In Console, go to Products > SHIP-HATS, and select the required subscription to open the Workspace.
- Click Tools > GitLab.
- Select the required SHIP-HATS project.
- Click the Group name to open GitLab.
- In the left sidebar, select Manage > Members.
- Search for the required user.
By default, GitLab displays all members in the group and its subgroups. If a user belongs to both this group and a parent group, GitLab displays only the user’s highest access level (Max role).
- If the user is listed, no further action is required.
- If the user is not listed, continue to Step 2: Invite members.
Step 2: Invite members
Complete these steps only if the user is not already a member.
- In the Group members page, click Invite members.
- Enter the user’s Username or email address.
- Select the appropriate Role.
- Click Invite.
For more information about inviting users, see the GitLab documentation: Add users to a project.
Important
- Invited users must accept the invitation within 7 days.
- If an invitation expires, the PA must resend it.
- GitLab may deactivate user accounts that remain inactive for an extended period.
