Deploying Your Web Application to Optical

Deploying your web application to Optical is a straightforward process. This guide will walk you through how it works and what to expect.

πŸš€ Getting Started

To deploy your application, you should have been provided access to your own optical-public-web project on GitLab. If you do not have access, please contact the Optical team for assistance.

Note: Tenants are fully responsible for the approval and deployment of their own applications. Before deploying, please verify that your code has been reviewed and approved according to your team’s internal processes.

πŸ›  Deployment Workflow

1. Automatic Deployment to Staging

  • Trigger: Any commit pushed to the main branch will automatically initiate the deployment pipeline.
  • Pipeline Steps:
    1. Testing: Runs automated tests to ensure code quality.
    2. Building: Prepares your web application for deployment.
    3. Deploying to Staging: Your application is deployed to the staging environment for review.

2. Manual Deployment to Production

  • Once your application is thoroughly tested in the staging environment, you can manually trigger a deployment to the production environment.
  • Steps to Deploy to Production:
    1. Go to the optical-public-web GitLab project.
    2. Navigate to the Pipelines section.
    3. Locate the latest pipeline triggered by the main branch commit.
    4. Click the play button next to the deploy to production job.

βœ… Key Considerations

  • Ensure all tests pass in the pipeline before deploying to production.
  • Always verify your application in the staging environment prior to production deployment.
  • Coordinate with your team to schedule production deployments if required.
