Optical File Scanning

Optical File Scanning ensures secure file management by automatically scanning uploaded files for threats such as malware and viruses. This feature is integral to maintaining the security of content managed within Optical.

Key Features

  • Automated Malware Protection: Scans all files after upload to detect and quarantine malicious content.
  • Compliance: Conforms to IM8 AS-12 control statement.

How It Works

  1. File Upload: Users upload files to Optical’s file quarantine via the file studio module or APIs.
  2. Scanning: Files are sent to the scanning service and evaluated for potential threats.
  3. Passed Scanning: Files deemed safe are automatically moved into Optical’s clean file storage and available for use.
  4. Failed Scanning: Files flagged as harmful are automatically replaced with a dummy file. The uploader is notified of the failed scanning through Directus notifications.
  5. Notifications: Optical team receives notifications of flagged files.
