Quick Start Guide
Get up and running with the AISAY Web Portal in 10 minutes.
Step 1: Log In
- Navigate to https://aisay.ai.tech.gov.sg
- Click “Try AISAY² pilot now” or the “Try now” button
- Enter your email ending with
.gov.sgor.edu.sg— no prior registration is needed - Check your email for the OTP (check spam if needed), then enter it to log in
Step 2: Pick Your Model
You’ll see two model options:
| Model | Best For | Speed |
|---|---|---|
| Flagship Models | Text-heavy documents (contracts, reports, forms) — most powerful and accurate | Slightly slower |
| Locally Hosted Models | Image-heavy documents, visual content, handwritten text — hosted in Singapore | Slightly faster |
Tip: If you’re not sure which to use, try both models on a few sample files and compare results.
Step 3: Pick Your Use Case
Select a use case from the dropdown:
- Specify Your Own Fields ⭐ (Recommended) — Write your own prompts to extract exactly what you need. Over 90% of users choose this for the best accuracy and flexibility.
- OCR — Extract all visible text from the document with formatting preserved. No custom prompts needed.
- Specialised Models (NRIC, Passport, Bank Statement, Marriage Certificate) — Pre-configured extractions with fixed fields. Lower accuracy than custom prompts.
Step 4: Write Your First Prompt
When using “Specify Your Own Fields”, you define fields that tell the AI what to look for.
Each field has three parts:
- Data Label — A name for the field (this becomes the column header in your Excel export)
- Data Type — The type of value to extract (Text, Number, Date, True/False, or List)
- Prompt — Instructions that tell the AI how to find and interpret the data
Example: Extracting Net Pay from a Payslip
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Data Label | Net Pay |
| Data Type | Text |
| Prompt | Extract out the final net pay on the salary slip. This could be called the Net Pay, Final Pay, Total Amount, Total Salary or any other equivalent. For example, it could be written as: $20,000 / $50,000 / 50,000 pounds / 3000 dollars |
Notice how the prompt includes examples and alternative names — this helps the AI understand what you mean, even when documents use different labels.

Step 5: Add More Fields
Click the “Add Prompt” button to add additional fields. Each field becomes a column in your Excel export, and each file becomes a row.
You can:
- Drag and reorder fields using the handle on the left
- Delete a field using the red trash icon on the right
- Add as many fields as you need
Example: Adding a Name Field
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Data Label | Name |
| Data Type | Text |
| Prompt | Return the Name found on the Payslip. For example: Tan Ah Kow, Muthu s/o Bala, Ali Mohd Hassan |
Step 6: Choose the Right Data Type
| Data Type | Use When | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Text | Most common — for names, addresses, descriptions, amounts with symbols | Employee name, total price with $ sign |
| Number | Pure numeric values with no symbols or units | Age, quantity, percentage |
| Date | You want a standardised date format | Date of birth, invoice date |
| True/False | You want a yes/no answer based on a condition | “Is the document signed?” |
| List | There’s a variable number of items to extract | All furniture names, all transaction descriptions |
Tip: If you need to extract a list of items where each item has multiple related fields (e.g., a table with Name, Price, and Quantity columns), see the Using Objects guide.
Step 7: Save Your Template
Once you’re happy with your prompts:
- Click “Save Template” to save your configuration for later use
- Give it a descriptive name
- To reload it, select it from the “Saved Templates” dropdown
Important: Changes are not auto-saved. You must click Save Template to store your work.
Step 8: Upload Files and Run
- Drag and drop your files into the upload area (or click to browse)
- Tick the checkbox confirming your files are classified at or below Restricted / Sensitive Normal
- Click “Confirm & Process”
You can upload up to 100 files at a time. Each file becomes one row in the results.
Step 9: Get Your Results
- Files are analysed sequentially — wait a few minutes for processing to complete
- Use the arrow buttons to preview results for each file
- Click “Export” next to a file to download that file’s results only
- Click “Export All Results” to get a combined Excel file with all results (appears after all files are processed)
