How It Works

How does the rewards system work?

How It Works

  1. Joining a Campaign
    • A person becomes a participant by joining a campaign.
  2. Earning Points
    • The participant starts to perform actions defined by the campaign organiser.
    • Whenever the participant registers an action, the GovRewards rule engine will evaluate if any campaign objectives have been met.
    • If an objective has been met, points will be allotted to the participant.
  3. Viewing Points
    • Participants can view their current points balance and transaction history at any time during the campaign.
  4. Redeeming Points
    • Once participants earn sufficient points, they can redeem them for cash incentives or gift items through GovRewards redemption partners (e.g., GovWallet, GovSupply).

Terminology

Account:
A participant of a specified campaign. The identifier of this account can be the participant’s NRIC. Each account needs to be added to each campaign separately.

Account Action:
An action performed by a participant (e.g., applying for a job, registering for an event, etc.) that is recorded in the GovRewards system.

Account Activity:
Activities that have been completed by the account.

Activity:
An activity is a goal within a campaign that is fulfilled when a participant completes a specific set of required actions. Once the activity is met, points are automatically awarded to the participant according to the rules configured for that activity.

Campaign:
An initiative that contains a set of objectives, rules, and is used to track the activities that a participant did. Each campaign runs independently of each other.

Objective:
The term objective has been renamed to activity for improved clarity and intuitiveness. However, to maintain backward compatibility, the term objective continues to be used in the GovRewards APIs.

Activity Rule:
A set of configuration to define how an activity can be met (i.e. which actions need to be registered before points can be allotted), how many points should be allotted to the account, and how many times this activity can be completed.

Partner:
A GovRewards Integration Partner to manage campaigns and its respective resources on the behalf of the Tenant. (e.g. Workpal GovWallet Mini App).

Points:
The currency of the GovRewards system.

Redemption Partner:
A GovRewards Integration Partner that disburses/allots cash incentives and gift items to the participants after redemption.

Redemption Rule:
A set of configuration to define the parameters for redeeming an item, for e.g. how many points this item cost, and how many times this item can be redeemed per participant.

Tenant:
A GovRewards Tenant groups and isolates campaigns, users, and settings for a single organisation.
